What is a separation agreement?
A separation agreement can be considered as an alternative to divorce, in the sense that it can be used for couples to reach agreement over the distribution of assets, finances and property, defining responsibilities and child arrangements. Are separation agreements legally binding?
A separation agreement is not legally binding until it is made into a formal court order and therefore a separation agreement cannot preclude the court’s jurisdiction in financial remedy proceedings on divorce. How do I go about getting a separation agreement?
